As Easy As A – B – C

In honor of back to school, here’s part 1 of our  A-B-Cs of Flooring
Learn about our favorite floors:
A is for Area Rug -- An area rug is simply a carpet that is finished around the edges, often much smaller than the dimensions of the room. Available in a variety of sizes and patterns. An area rug can be easily moved.
B is for Berber – A style of carpet that consists of multiple small loops that are not cut, but rather woven together.
C is for Carrara – A type of natural stone from marble quarries in Carrara, Italy. It is found in varying hues of white and gray colors. The background of this marble is whitish gray and it has linear, thin and feathery veining patterns.
D is for distressed -- The intentional scratching, scraping and/or gouging of a flooring surface to create an aged look. These processes may involve wire brushing, sculpting, and scraping the floor. Doing so results in a floor with a lot of texture and character. Very practical for active homes with kids and pets – hides scratches and dings!
E is for Exceptional II — One of our very best selling carpets, made by DreamWeaver. Stain resistant, durable, perfect for clients putting their home on the market or for rooms that don’t get heavy use. And it’s on sale this month!
F is for French Oak -- Literally wood grown in France. Has a very high tannin content which reacts better in the aging process, giving the wood a beautiful patina and time-worn look. Also plays a significant role in French wine making.
G is for Georgia -- because most of the carpet in the world is made right here in Georgia! Approximately 75% of all carpet and rugs are made in and around Dalton. When you are purchasing carpet, you are supporting our state's economy! Carpet ..... it just feels better!
H is for Happy Floors -- our "go to" line for European-crafted porcelain and ceramic tiles and mosaics. Our clients are always happy they selected a gorgeous tile from Happy Floors!
I is for Inhaus Sono Eclipse -- one of our favorite LVP brands! Waterproof, family and pet friendly, stain & fade resistant, easy to clean, and scratch resistant. Available in wood and tile looks. What's not to love?
J is for Jim Blake -- one of our showroom Design Consultants! Jim is very knowledgeable and would love to help you find your new favorite floor!
K is for Karastan -- Top of the line products, excellent quality, and something for everybody: carpet, hardwoods, and LVP! (Great sale prices, too!)
~Design Tip~
If your children have a dedicated room for tackling homework and enjoying downtime after school, outfit it with floor-to-ceiling shelving. Display a mix of their favorite toys (don't forget to sprinkle in a few educational ones) and books to make it a fun place to hang out.
How Much Does It Cost?
We recently installed a French Oak hardwood floor in the Master Bedroom of a Canton home. Our client selected Palmetto Road Riviera -- a true French Oak hardwood featuring distinct saw marks and textures in a random width 4" 5" 6" installation that feels both ageless and antique. The bedroom (344 sq ft) installed for a little over $4600. This gorgeous floor created the sanctuary our client was seeking
WWOWTWonderful World of Window Treatments
1, 2, 3 Ways to Child~Proof your Shades
Figuring out how to childproof your home can seem like a huge task. Everything suddenly becomes dangerous: the corners of your dining room table, the outlets, the stairs…is it possible to bubble wrap your child?! Protecting your little ones is important to us, too, so we want to make sure you’re aware of the danger of cords. But, don’t feel like we’re adding another thing to your list! We’ll provide the solutions. Take a look at your options for child safe window treatments.
Cord-Free SystemsIt really is true that children can turn anything into a toy. Cords are no different. After all, they’re dangly and fun to twirl in little hands. Eliminating cords will eliminate your concerns. If you’re looking for tips on how to childproof your window treatments, consider going cordless.
Shutters are a gorgeous, simple solution to cord-free window treatments. All you have to do to let in light is open the louvers. They’re durable, so your kids can also adjust the light and privacy without damaging them.
Another cordless option is LiteRise. With a gentle pull down or push up, you can adjust your window coverings–both blinds and shades. They’re easy to use and will leave you with peace of mind.
Motorized Solutions
One of our most popular, and favorite, solutions we suggest when parents ask how to childproof is motorization. PowerView® Automation allows you to create schedules, adjust your shades with a remote, or use smart devices, like Alexa or Google Home, to adjust with your voice.
We also love our motorized wand. SoftTouch is a sleek wand that allows for individual window treatment control. To adjust, gently pull up or down on the wand. If a little one reaches it and pulls too hard, it will detach from the magnet. Then, you simply reattach it. No harm done!
Child Safe Cords
Y
ou heard that right! We know that every space is different, and cords are sometimes a necessity. Luckily, we have cord options that are considered child safe.
The continuous cord loop, shown above, attaches to a cord tensioner inside the window frame. It won’t swing or dangle, so your children won’t be tempted to turn it into a toy!
Another cord option is the UltraGlide system. This cord is retractable, so you pull it to open or close your shade, and then it retracts to its shortened length. There’s no temptation here!
