Color trends 2024

Color Trends Spring & Summary 2024: What's Popular and Why

We are in the midst of a Presidential election. The psychology of color shows us that political election years are thought to be a time of renewed energy, optimism, and the promise of exciting times to come. However, this year challenges this theory! Our nation is truly divided.

When a new administration comes to power, hope for a positive future is prevalent, and color palettes for consumer products reflect this with clear and bright colors. If the country is concerned or fearful about our future, colors become dull, and tones are muted and drab. With such discord in America today, how will everyday products be colored? Bright and colorful, or dull and somber, or will a new color palette combine the two as we try to coexist? The answer will not be known until the end of the year.

2024 Color of the year

Shades of blue are taking the spotlight in 2024. Moody medium tones of blues (not the deep navy blues of the past few years) are predicted to trend in the coming year. Blue is timeless and never really goes out of style, but will be especially popular in the next twelve months.Benjamin Moore’s paint color predictions have become a leading voice in paint trend predictions over the last decade. Benjamin Moore has selected a mid-toned blue they have named Blue Nova as its Color of the Year for 2024. This color combines violet and blue to create an elevated and sumptuous hue. Blue Nova is a rich, grounded blue that works just as well on an accent piece or covering a color-drenched room. This color was chosen to represent the blend of modern and traditional styles so popular in home interiors today.

What Comes First?

Flooring or Painting First?

Almost every client asks if they should paint first or install their new floor. For hard surface flooring, you can certainly do your floors first. A reputable painter will have no problems protecting and not damaging your brand-new floors. By doing the painting last, you don’t have to worry about touch-up painting, painting your primed shoe mold, etc.  However, if you are installing new carpet, most people paint first.

Do be aware that no matter how careful we are, there will be some touch-up painting required after installation.

PRO TIP: Don’t paint and then try to find the perfect floor color. There are thousands and thousands of paint color choices, but nowhere near that many flooring color choices. Make both decisions at the same time so you do not give yourself a much harder task when choosing your new floor.

Spring Break Plans

Got Spring Break Plans?

Our installation calendar is already filling up for the first week in April. Why? It is spring break week for our local schools. It is a great time to get work done if you are going to be at home. And it's also a great week to get big projects like refinishing your hardwood floors done if you are going away.
